WellNest provides a comprehensive mental health support system by integrating key features designed to enhance accessibility, flexibility, and community engagement. Key Features and Significance: Scheduling an In-Person Appointment with a Mental Health Professional: This feature allows users to find and book appointments with licensed professionals based on availability, specialization, and location. In-person sessions provide a personal and direct approach to therapy, fostering deeper connections and more effective treatment. Joining a Virtual Session with a Mental Health Professional: To accommodate those with time constraints, mobility issues, or location barriers, our platform offers virtual consultations. These sessions provide the same level of professional care in a more convenient and accessible format, ensuring that mental health support is available to a wider range of women. Creating an Event for Your Community: This feature empowers individuals and organizations to host mental health-related events such as support groups, awareness workshops, and wellness activities. By fostering a sense of community, we aim to reduce stigma, promote open conversations, and provide peer support, which is crucial in improving mental well-being. By implementing these features, we bridge the gap between individuals and mental health resources, ensuring that support is accessible, flexible, and community-driven. This holistic approach fosters both individual well-being and collective mental health awareness.

Our visual design choices prioritize usability, accessibility, and emotional well-being, ensuring postpartum mothers can easily navigate and engage with the platform during a vulnerable period. Reasoning Behind Visual Design Choices: Simplicity – A minimalist interface reduces cognitive overload, allowing users to access support without feeling overwhelmed. Clear navigation, intuitive icons, and structured content enhance ease of use. Accessibility – We follow W3A guidelines, ensuring color contrast, readable fonts, and inclusive design elements that accommodate users with visual or cognitive impairments. Bright Colors for Positive and Calm Feelings – The color palette balances warmth and energy, fostering calmness and motivation. Bright yet soothing tones uplift the user while maintaining a sense of emotional security. All-in-One Platform for Seamless Engagement – The platform integrates professional help and community support in one place, making it easy to switch between expert guidance and peer advice. This seamless design minimizes friction, making mental health resources more approachable. Android Prototyping for Financial Accessibility – Many users, especially those from lower-income backgrounds, rely on mobile devices for internet access. By prioritizing an Android-first mobile app, we ensure that support is portable, convenient, and financially inclusive—allowing users to seek help anytime, anywhere. By combining simplicity, accessibility, and a mobile-first approach, our design empowers postpartum mothers with the resources they need in an intuitive, stress-free environment.

Our design decisions were directly shaped by research insights highlighting the challenges postpartum mothers face, including postpartum depression, the need for accessible information, and feelings of isolation. Adapting Research Insights: Postpartum Depression Statistics – Recognizing the high prevalence of postpartum depression, we prioritized features that facilitate direct access to mental health professionals. We incorporated options for both in-person and virtual therapy sessions, ensuring that mothers experiencing postpartum depression can receive timely and flexible support tailored to their needs. Need for Information as Working Moms Postpartum – Many working mothers struggle to find reliable postpartum mental health resources. To address this, we designed an intuitive platform with quick guides and expert session scheduling, providing an emphasis on in-person engagement and connection. By integrating appointment scheduling and community-driven events, we empower mothers with both professional and peer support, helping them balance work and postpartum recovery. Feeling of Isolation Postpartum – Research indicated that many new mothers feel disconnected from their communities. To combat this, we introduced a feature that allows users to create and join events focused on postpartum well-being. Whether it's a local support group, virtual discussion, or wellness workshop, this fosters a sense of belonging and connection, crucial for emotional recovery. By integrating these insights, our design ensures postpartum mothers have accessible, informed, and community-driven support, helping them navigate this critical life stage with confidence.
