Sanctuary is a secure and supportive mobile application designed to empower individuals experiencing domestic abuse. It offers users immediate 24-hour assistance, emotional support in an interpersonal network, and a path to rebuilding their lives.
Our key features include an AI-assisted risk assessment, emergency escape plan, article resources, local resources, and community threads. We implemented these key features for users to assess their situation, plan ways to safely leave, inform themselves about important resources, and connect with a safe network and community of victims and survivors.

Our visual design choices utilize cool-toned colors to create a calming and clean user interface. We wished to make our application soothing and organized so that users could find resources effortlessly.

Originally, we pivoted our research to encapsulate user surveys collected on Reddit. However, we quickly realized many Reddit communities did not allow users to release survey questions. As a result, we changed the direction of our research scope. We decided to conduct empirical research and competitive analyses. We also researched testimonials created by domestic abuse survivors. With this information, we created a user persona to gain a deeper understanding of who and why we are designing for.
